Over the past couple of months I have noticed that there are two major things that a lot of people still think are fashion faux pas – wearing black and brown, and mixing metals. In this outfit I broke all of the ‘rules’. What a lot of people fail to realize is that black and brown are both neutrals, so they can definitely be worn together. When mixing metals, I like to have more than one of each type of metal. For example, the metal on my jacket and clutch are silver, and my necklace and rings are gold. By wearing equal parts of both colors, it balances out the look. I also balance out the black and brown by wearing equal parts of the two colors as well. The hat ties everything together because it has both colors on it.
This outfit is probably one of my favorites so far. I love the way that the feminine gingham dress looks juxtaposed next to the masculine leather jacket and cool spike necklace. While my style is typically very feminine, I do enjoy adding some masculine touches in every once in a while.
