It looks like winter is going to stick around for a bit longer in the midwest, so I’ve been stocking up on cozy sweaters. I just got this green oversized turtleneck sweater in last week, and it’s hands down the softest and coziest sweater that I’ve ever owned! I’ve also been eyeing this gorgeous beige turtleneck and this chic white turtleneck sweater to add to my ever-growing collection.
When it comes to wearing oversized sweaters, there is often a fine line between looking frumpy and looking chic. Add in a turtleneck neckline, and it gets even trickier because of the added volume. To keep you all looking chic and feeling fabulous, I’m sharing my top three tips for styling an oversized turtleneck sweater with you all today!
TUCK IN THE FRONT OF YOUR SWEATER
You ladies already know this, but I’m all about the front tuck! Tucking the front of an oversized sweater into your bottoms helps to accentuate your waistline. This also makes your legs look longer, which balances out the bulkiness of the sweater.
BALANCE THE VOLUME WITH FITTED BOTTOMS
When you’re wearing anything that is oversized, the key is to balance out the look! To balance out the volume of an oversized sweater, it’s best to wear fitted bottoms. Since it’s so cold here, I wore my favorite skinny jeans with my oversized turtleneck, but a fitted skirt would work well too!
ADD HEIGHT WITH HEELED SHOES
My third and final tip for styling an oversized turtleneck sweater is to add height with heeled shoes. Again, when wearing an oversized item, it’s all about balance. Heels help to make your legs look longer, and the added length helps to balance out the volume of an oversized sweater. My favorite over-the-knee boots are the perfect solution for not only adding height, but also for keeping warm!
